DOL 49
“Well, she couldn’t be worse,” said Felicia Fey whose narrow escape had scared them all further. “I hope she doesn’t perceive that purple streak in her hair until she gets home.”
DOL 50
“She’s the one that deserved it,” countered Felicia’s friends, William Waggish and Pauline Puerile in unison. They shared a “high five” as William proceeded to happily recite another one of his infamous limericks, this one entitled “Frigid English.”
Countered: speak or act in opposition to
Unison: at the same time (simultaneously)
Infamous: famous for the wrong reason
Our grammar teacher is rigid.
On English rules, she’s quite frigid.
She never splits verbs
And teaches hard words,
And errors make her quite livid.
Analogies maybe Tuesday!

The American colonies inherited ideas about human rights from the Magna Carta and the English Bill of Rights. Both these documents limited the power of royalty and raise the power of the people. The English law making body, Parliament, was established to limit the power of the king and give more power to the people.
The battle to limit the king resulted in the English Civil War in which the king was executed by Parliament. Later Parliament removed another king who would not listen to them. Most Americans were well aware of this history.

Discuss Family/Personal Culture
What is culture?
What things or events are important for you and/or your family?
What are behaviors both important and seemingly trivial that you and/or your family does on a regular basis?
Examples range from religious practices to eating certain foods or at certain locations or times.
Discuss with parents and note down as many types of cultural behaviors that happen at a personal or family level as you can.
Document due Friday, January 6th.
